Woman dead in Peru, state police rule death 'suspicious'

PERU, Maine

(NEWS CENTER) – Maine State Police say 57-year-old Paula Nuttall was found dead inside a residence on Main Street in Puru Saturday morning. Maine State Public Safety spokesperson Steve McCausland says the death is considered 'suspicious.'

Officials add that a man, related somehow to Nuttall, was taken from the scene and is being treated at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Police say he is not a suspect at this time but he is being interviewed.

McCausland says Maine State Police detectives are on scene, but that they believe no one else was involved in the "incident."

McCausland said Nuttall lived at the residence with four other family members with only the one male being injured.

McCausland expects the autopsy to be performed on Sunday. Investigators will remain on scene to determine what happened.
