Maine’s Popular “Open Lighthouse Day” Salutes the State’s Maritime Heritage on September 13, 2014

Complimentary Entry to 22 Iconic Light Stations

The State of Maine’s sixth annual Open Lighthouse Day will take place on Saturday, September 13 with lighthouses open throughout the state and free entry available to visitors on this one day.  The popular event, sponsored by the United States Coast Guard, the Maine Office of Tourism and the American Lighthouse Foundation, draws between 15,000 to 18,000 visitors annually with the unique opportunity to climb and learn about Maine’s historic lights.

“As one of our largest industries, tourism provides an outstanding way for Maine to attract visitors, create jobs and provide new investment opportunities,” said Governor Paul R. LePage.  “My administration is committed to supporting events and activities that showcase our state as a terrific place to visit, study, and invest.”

Want to provide an invaluable service to your community? Join Spectrum Generations volunteer Senior Medicare Patrol team and make a difference by cutting down on Medicare fraud and abuse.

Spectrum Generations, in collaboration with Legal Services for the Elderly, is holding its next 3-day Senior Medicare Patrol training from 8am to 2pm on Thursdays, August 7, 14 and 28 at Spectrum Generations Southern Midcoast ADRC Center located at 35 Union Street in Brunswick (with-in the PeoplePlus building).

This “train the trainer” workshop will give you the tools you need to teach people how to navigate the complex Medicare system and prepare you to do public presentations, provide individualized counseling on Medicare Part D, and in general educate the public about Medicare fraud and abuse.  Breakfast snacks and refreshments will be served,  but we ask that you “brown bag it” for lunch.
