42nd Annual Awards Dinner Coming in May

The Bethel Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards will be taking place on Friday, May 6.  This year they will be held at the Grand Summit Hotel at Sunday River Resort.  Dinner includes a full buffet featuring roast tenderloin in wild mushroom ragu, chicken dijon, and vegetable ravioli in brodo.  The event begins at 6:00pm with a social and silent auction, dinner at 7:00pm and the presentations and awards at 8:00pm.  Dr. David Murphy will be the evening's emcee.  RSVP is a must.  The fee for the event is $39. per person or a table of 8 with business sign for $325.  Please call 824-2282 for tickets or more information.  Hope to see you there!

The IZSTYLE Winter Tour returns to Sunday River featuring the Bud Light Music Series and activities aimed at raising awareness of alternative and renewable energy sources. The Reverb Eco Village is back featuring environmental non-profit groups helping educate skiers and snowboarders about the steps they can take to reduce their environmental footprint. All natural and organic food sampling from Stonyfield Farm, Bear Naked Granola, Evol Burritos and American Flat Bread/Rustic Crust Pizza, will be located at the Barker Lodge base area from 8am-4pm. There will be ski and snowboard demos from Burton and Nordica.

Norway's Odd Fellows to be auctioned off

NORWAY - The Odd Fellows Building at 380 Main Street in Norway will be auctioned off March 15 for breach of mortgage conditions, according to public notice issued by TD Bank N.A. attorney Edward MacColl.
Eight other properties owned by New Horizon Capital Investment LLC., the company operated by Dawn and Harvey Solomon, of Harrison, will also be publicly auctioned in the wake of a $4 million judgment against felon Dawn Solomon.
The properties, which include 14 and 16 Orchard Street, 21 and 24 Cottage Street, 34 Greenleaf Avenue — all in Norway — and 172 Main Street, Norway, one of the two buildings raided by local, state and federal agencies July 13, 2010.

2nd Annual Academy Awards Benefit for Children's Charities

Sunday February 27 is the place to be in Bethel as Rooster's Roadhouse hosts the 2nd Annual Academy Awards Dinner & Party to benefit local area Holiday Children's Charities.  The event is limited to 75 people and features Prime Rib and Baked Stuffed Shrimp Dinner choices.  Cost is $45 per person (includes tax & gratuity) with $20 going directly to the Children's Charities.  Live entertainment with Chad Porter will be featured during cocktails and dinner.  Be a part of the Red Carpet arrivals, local "Bethel" awards and watching the Academy Awards telecast on a 100" projection screen with stereo sound beginning at 8pm.  Don't miss out on the Party of the Season starting at 5:30pm.

MVSB’s Mitten Tree Program provides nearly $4K to local nonprofits as well as 2K hats and mittens

Through the generous support of community members throughout the Lakes Region, Meredith Village Savings Bank (MVSB) donated $3,942 to local organizations and collected and distributed nearly 2,000 items of warm winter accessories to people in need.

Each year during the Mitten Tree program, the Bank’s 11 offices throughout the Lakes Region collect handmade and store-bought winter accessories from the community and coordinate with local organizations such as local schools and the Visiting Nurses Association to distribute the items to those who need them.
