Black Bear Realty Selects Two Respected Maine Companies for Oxford Casino Project Construction

Cianbro and Sargent Corporation Selected

OXFORD,ME - Black Bear Realty, the founder of the Oxford Casino, today announced the selection of two recognized and respected Maine companies to provide site work preparation and construction management of the Oxford Casino location. The extensive selection bid process included a review of numerous qualified construction and site companies. In keeping with its promise to give Maine companies and workers first preference, Black Bear selected Sargent Corporation of Stillwater, Maine as site contractor, and the Cianbro Corporation of Pittsfield, Maine as construction manager. These exceptional Maine companies have a proven history of providing quality jobs as well as outstanding performance records in their respective fields.  While documents are being finalized, Black Bear owners are confident that the process will be expedited with a formal groundbreaking announcement very soon, with an opening in early 2012.

"Cianbro is proud and pleased to have been selected for this important project in Oxford County, where unemployment rates have hovered around 10 percent during these tough economic times," said Cianbro Chairman and CEO Pete Vigue. "Not only will our construction activities bring immediate jobs and spending to this region, but hundreds of permanent positions will be created here once the facility is operational. The voters of Maine have spoken about the wisdom of moving forward with this project, and Cianbro will deliver a high quality facility that matches the aspirations of citizens in this region."

Herb R. Sargent, president of Sargent Corporation, commented “In times of minimal commercial investment in rural Maine, we’re proud to be a part of a project that will bring not only good, temporary construction jobs, but also good permanent jobs as well.”

Bob Bahre, one of the owners and investors in the Black Bear project which was given the green light by Maine voters in November of 2010, said ”From the start, for both my son Gary and me, this has been all about jobs for Maine people.  We wanted to do something to give back to an area that has been so good to us.  I know the high standards and quality of these companies and I’m confident they’ll do a good job putting more Maine people to work in the process.”
